Feature of the month to celebrate Halloween
The Chandler Public Library will celebrate Halloween with spine tingling books sure to keep you up at night. Featured authors will include Stephen King (also writing as Richard Bachman), Dean Koontz, Ted Dekker, Frank Perretti, Tami Hoag, John Saul and many others.

Story Time resumes with new day and time
Story Time will resume after Labor Day changing the day and time. Tuesday, September 5, Story Time will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will continue through Tuesday, November 21.
“For many years Story Time has been on Monday’s at 11:30 to accommodate first Kindergarten and then Pre-K children who were in either morning or afternoon classes,” said Assistant Librarian Sandy Helm. “Since Pre-K is all day starting this year we took the opportunity to make the changes so it will be easier for younger children to attend.”
The theme for the Sept. 5 program will be Grandparents. The craft activity is an opportunity for children to make a gift and a card for their Grandparents for Grandparents Day on Sunday, September 10.
Other programs scheduled throughout the fall will feature Cats, Apples, Autumn, No Bullying, Origami, Halloween, Honoring Veterans, Book Awards and Thanksgiving.
Activities for Story Time include, reading, crafts, songs, poetry, games and sometimes snacks.
All aged children are invited to come to Story Time from lap-sitters through pre-school aged children. Home-schooled children are also invited to attend Story Time.
Books Sandwiched in resumes in September
Books Sandwiched In book discussion group will resume September 6 in the Community Room of the Chandler Public Library from noon until 1 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and discuss whatever books they have been reading this summer. Bring your lunch and hear what the nearly dozen folks who attend have been reading and get some good ideas of What-You-Should-Read-Next. The group meets the first Wednesday each month from noon to 1 p.m. in the Community Room.

Summer Reading Program kicks off to Build a Better Community @ the Library
The Summer Reading Program Kickoff party was held Friday morning, June 16 with 46 attending the program with our guest presenter Monty Harper. Mr. Harper entertained children and adults with a variety of songs and activities to inspire children to read throughout the summer.
The Summer Reading Program activities will continue each Friday with children checking their mailboxes in the old card catalog. Inside will be activities, prizes or games to encourage the children to read through the summer. The first activity will be an About Me Poster the children will fill out and decorate and return to the Library. Other activities will include a Scavenger Hunt in July, a memory game also in July, Firefighter straws, bookmarks, and notepads and pencils.
With the theme of Building a Better Community children are encouraged to donate items from their home to several local organizations by bringing the items to the Library. Items being collected include stuffed animals for DHS foster children, books for the Library, clothes and toys for the Community Thrift Store, non-perishable food items for the God and People Food Pantry, change for the Chosen House and greeting cards for residents of the local nursing home. wrap up with our End of Summer Party from 9:30-11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 4. Feature of the Month for May is Oklahoma author Carolyn Hart
Our feature of the month for May is Oklahoma City mystery author Carolyn Hart. Hart, a native of Oklahoma City, has written 58 books including the Death on Demand series, Henrie O series and her new series Bailey Ruth. Her stand alone novel, Letter From Home, was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize by the Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers at Oklahoma State University Tulsa. Letter from Home also won the Agatha for Best Mystery Novel of 2003 and was a New York Times notable book.
