The Library is celebrating DEAR-Drop Everything And Read in January by featuring author James Patterson.
James Patterson has created more enduring fictional characters than any other novelist writing today with his Alex Cross, Michael Bennett, Women’s Murder Club, Private, NYPD Red, Daniel X, Maximum Ride, and Middle School series. As of January 2016, he has sold over 350 million books worldwide and currently holds the Guinness World Record for the most #1 New York Times bestsellers. In addition to writing the thriller novels for which he is best known, he also writes children’s, middle-grade, and young-adult fiction and is also the first author to have #1 new titles simultaneously on the New York Times adult and children’s bestsellers lists. Featured Patterson books include 1st to Die (Women’s Murder Club), Step On A Crack (Michael Bennett), Zoo (stand alone), Private, NYPD Red 4, Confessions of a Murder Suspect (Young Adult) and First Love (Young Adult) along with many many others. The Library’s collection contains over 130 James Patterson novels.

New books for the New Year

The Library added new books for January 2017. Author James Patterson has two new books, Cross the Line the newest Alex Cross book and a children’s book Word of Mouse. Other new books include This Was a Man by Jeffrey Archer, Night School by Lee Child, The Sleeping Beauty Killer by Mary Higgins Clark, Tom Clancy’s True Faith and Allegiance by Mark Greaney, The Midnight Bell by Jack Higgins, Expecting to Die by Lisa Jackson, When All the Girls Have Gone by Jayne Ann Krentz, Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis by Anne Rice, Island of Glass by Nora Roberts, The Mistress by Danielle Steel and Moon Chosen by P.C. Cast.

Food for Fines

A yellow can of corn in the front, a red can of tomatoes behind the corn and to the left and a green and blue can of carrots behind the tomatoes and to the right.

Canned goods

Do you have overdue books from the Chandler Public Library and aren’t sure how much your fine is? During the month of December the Chandler Library is having a non-perishable food drive. If you have overdue books and return them in December along with non-perishable food items, the fine will be waived. If you have fines on previously returned books, bring in non-perishable food items and the fines will be waived.
The food will be donated The Chosen House and those with fines can again use library services. Everybody wins!
The food drive will last from December 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016. Just bring in your non-perishable food items and any fines will be waived.
If you don’t have a fine and want to donate food anyway, just bring your donation to the library during that time and the staff will be pleased to accept it.

Story Time Resumes Sept. 12

Story Time resumes Sept. 12 with the theme Lions, Tigers & Bears–Oh My!! Story Time is every Monday through November 21 (excluding Oct. 10 when the Library is closed for Columbus Day) at 11:30 a.m. We spend a half-hour reading books, poetry, singing, a craft, games and sometimes snacks. The program is designed for children ages one through pre-kindergarten but children of all ages are welcome. Home school students are welcome as well.

We also purchased young adult books The Last Star by Rick Yancey and The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan.

Books Sandwiched In continues through the Summer

Books Sandwiched In, the book club that meets at the Library the first Wednesday of each month from noon until 1 p.m., is continuing through the summer. Everyone is welcome to talk about whatever books they are reading and hear short reviews of the books others are reading. So bring a sandwich or lunch, water and coffee are provided, and enjoy talking about books.
